The Nadi District Hospital is in one of the main towns on the largest Fijian Island, Viti Levu. Nadi is also the main airport in Fiji, and a major tourist destination, so accommodation should be relatively easy to find. There are however, limited resources and space at the hospital and students have commented the doctors are very busy, which means that students have a lot of responsibility, running outpatient clinics with little support. It has also been commented that the hospital receives patients with conditions such as Dengue Fever and Leptosporosis, so students will need to be confident in their diagnostic abilities. Students have also found that they have time to explore the local islands and areas.
Electives in Fiji for medical students are organised through the Fiji School of Medicine (FSMed), a school of the Fiji National University, and are between four and six weeks for international students, although longer clerkships may be available for a fee.
