The national referral Hospital, Tungaru Central Hospital (TCH), Tarawa, Kiribati, was built between 1991 and 1992 is located on Tarawa Island (part of the Gilbert Islands). It receives referrals from the sub-divisional hospitals and health centres. TCH is a 120 bed hospital built with Japanese funding.
Services offered: Emergency care, General Medical, Surgical, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics and mental health service supported by laboratory, medical imaging, pharmacy, and physiotherapy services.
There are a number of private rooms and the hospital provides meals for in-patients, their main carer, and for discharged patients awaiting transport to the outer islands.

Getting there
Fiji Airways does return flights to Bonriki International Airport (Kiribati) via Melbourne (12hr stopeover) and Fiji (1:15hr stop over in Nadi) for $2,200 departing on a Sunday. Bonriki international airport is less than 1km from Tungaru Central hospital.
