Dr Lilian Eva Yuan, an anaesthetist from Randwick Women’s Hospital in Sydney, volunteered at Gizo Hospital, Western Province of the Solomon Islands in July 2019 with a visiting Gynaecological team involved in teaching laparoscopic surgery. Dr Yuan was a very much valued member of the DAISI team, with both exceptional humility and ability. She was keen to return but unfortunately COVID travel bans prevented this from happening.
