Purpose
To ensure the protection of children from harm in all DAISI activities.
Responsibilities
To promote awareness amongst DAISI board, Office Bearers, members, volunteers, staff, and partners of DAISI policies and code of conduct in all matters related to child protection.
To ensure the early reporting and appropriate mandatory notification of any incident of known or suspected harm caused to a child by a DAISI staff, member, volunteer, or partner.
To provide support and counselling to the any child and their family, who is suspected of being harmed by DAISI staff, members, volunteers or partners.
To immediately notify the DAISI board of any suspected or confirmed case of child abuse or harm.
To comply with mandatory reporting guidelines and to notify the relevant local authority (including the Police) of any suspected or confirmed case of child abuse or harm caused by DAISI staff, members, volunteers or partners.
If DAISI is a recipient of DFAT funding to notify DFAT of any suspected or confirmed case of child abuse or harm caused by DAISI staff, members, volunteers or partners.
To ensure adequate follow up and support of reported cases of child abuse and to provide the CEO, & board with ongoing updates.
To notify the Australian Federal Police where child abuse has been caused by an Australian citizen or resident, even if the alleged harm occurred in the South-Pacific.
