Dr Erick Fuentes is a breast, thyroid and general surgeon from Concord Hospital who worked as a self-funded volunteer General Surgeon at National Referral Hospital (NRH), in Honiara, Solomon Islands from August to October 2011 after obtaining his FRACS. During this time he worked with the local surgeons, registrars and nurses, conducting outpatient clinics, minor procedures, major surgeries, and one week surgical visits to Kilu ‘ufi (Malaita Province) and Gizo Hospital (Western Province) of the Solomon Islands. Dr Fuentes has since returned to Kilu ‘ufi hospital where he has been involved in the discussion and development of multidisciplinary breast cancer care and thryoid surgery.
Erick is married with 2 kids, and enjoys scuba diving and judo. Erick’s family enjoys ultruistic holidays, particularly to the South Pacific, and recently visited with his family the Island of Tetpare, in the Western Province.
