Amanda Summers is a registered nurse and stomal therapist from The Colorectal Surgery Unit, Adelaide who volunteered at National Referral Hospital (NRH) & Gizo Hospital, Western Province of the Solomon Islands in February & March 2019.
Amanda completed her Bachelor of Nursing at The University of SA in 2009. She commenced her nursing career at Calvary Wakefield Hospital in 2010. Whilst working as a Clinical Nurse on the Surgical Ward at Calvary Wakefield in 2013 Amanda completed her Stomal Therapy Certificate at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Since then she has worked in Stomal Therapy and in 2017 joined the Colorectal Surgery Unit. Amanda delivers pre, post and ongoing wound and stoma care to her patients. She is an active member of the Australia Association of Stomal Therapy Nurses and enjoys learning and spending time with other Stomal Therapy Nurses to further her knowledge and clinical skills.
