Dr Geoff Tweeddale is an anaesthetist from Bankstown hospital in Sydney and a keen volunteer who is always ready to help and teach anaesthetics to local nursing and medical staff in the Solomon Islands. Dr Tweeddale visited Honiara and Gizo hospital for just over a week in July/August 2016 providing anaesthetic support for 3 visiting surgeons and over 41 operations. He particularly enjoys the challenges of providing safe anaesthetic care with sometimes limited resources, and is a great contact person for any anaesthetist with an interest in visiting the Solomon Islands to volunteer, and has written “A Survival Guide to Providing Safe Anaesthetics in the Tropics”
