Jane Steel  worked for many years as a paediatric and diabetic educator nurse before moving to a focus on primary health care. More recently Jane has been an anaesthetic practice manager. She has an interest in preventive health care and diabetic education in the developing world and plans to volunteer at National Referral (NRH) in Honiara and Gizo hospital for 1 week in June/July 2017  with a visiting surgical team including her husband, a colorectal surgeon from Melbourne.
