Dr Prof Peter Haertsch is a plastic surgeon from Concord hospital, who has dedicated much of his life to volunteering his surgical services and training other surgeons in the developing world, including 40 trips treating children with congenital deformity in developing countries. He has performed surgery in Tanzania, Pakistan, the Philippines and the South Pacific Islands with a number of trips to the Solomon Islands. Peter Haertsch’s first trip to Gizo Hospital in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands was in 1991, and has been back several times since.
