This five day DAISI trip will be colorectal surgeon Prof Peter Hewett’s second trip to National Referral Hospital (NRH) building on skills already taught on his last colorectal surgical visit earlier in the year in April 2018. The aim of this trip was to teach advanced open colorectal surgery and basic laparoscopic skills. A session on colonoscopy skills will also occur teaching techniques to facilitate reaching the caecum in the long tortuous colon, and endoscopic polypectomy techniques. There will also be didactic teaching sessions to help the surgical registrars understand decision making related to surgical cases.

| This colorectal visit will build on teaching open colorectal surgery and very basic laparoscopic surgery already conducted by Prof Hewett in April this year.
Prof Hewett will Depart Adelaide 7am on Monday 5th Nov (QF660), arriving Brisbane 7:50am. Depart Brisbane international 10:00am (QF379) arrive Honiara 2:15pm. Check into Heritage park Hotel (x nights). Surgery all day at Honiara Tue & Wed with teaching on Thur. Depart Honiara domestic Fri 9th Nov 9:30am, arrive Gizo 10:35am. Check into Fatboys resort (2 nights). Meet up with DAISI gynae team. Depart Gizo 9:55am Sun 11th Nov, arrive Honiara 11:25am. Depart Honiara international 1:15pm, arrive Brisbane 3:30pm. Dep Briasbane domestic 6:10pm, arrive Adelaide 9:20pm. |
